Mr. Singer was quoted in an Entertainment Weekly article by Joe Flint and Dan Snierson discussing the show's demise. Many FoLCs have interpreted Mr. Singer's comments as an indirect criticism of the opinions expressed by on-line FoLCs about the show's direction:

"But in the end, what might have really killed off the comic-book couple is...domestic bliss. (Call it the Moonlighting effect.) 'In retrospect, maybe we shouldn't have had them married,' says Robert Singer, executive producer of Lois and Clark. 'But people seemed to be clamoring for that. I guess we bent under pressure.'"
