Following "Lois & Clark's" cancellation, writer
Tim Minear sent the following note to the on-line FoLCs. Suffice it to say, it's a lot
more supportive than Mr. Singer's comments:
"I've gone back and forth on what I wanted to say in this forum while it still
exists. I feel like I want everyone to sign my yearbook. 'U R 2 Good 2 Change.' You know,
stuff like that.
"Truth is, in a way, it's not unlike the end of something like high school. In
fact, so many of you have been around since the start. Four years. And I feel like the new
kid who transferred in my last year. And you all welcomed me so readily. No one stole my
lunch money. Thanks for that.
"For me, this last year has been spectacular. Absolutely the best experience of my
professional life so far. I got to write for wonderful actors. I got to learn from gifted
writers and producers. I like what we did. I had fun. And the year's satisfaction was due
in no small part to the Internet FoLCs. To have such a dedicated group of people so
invested in one's work...it's exhilarating. And a bit daunting too.
"Hey, *you* try being up at three in the morning trying to crack an impossible
scene and thinking, 'KalElFan is going to nail me on this logic point. I'd better work it
out.' Or, 'Maybe they'll forgive a presidential race that takes place *after* Christmas if
I have Lois say the words "Warm and fuzzy feeling."'
"Not that I was pandering, mind you. Well maybe a little.
"I guess all I really want to say is -- you're all *darn* nice FoLCs. I thank you.
"And Melvin Hofflemeyer thanks you.
"Your servant,
"Tim Minear"
