Lois, after investigating more than fifty people who claimed responsibility for ridding the world of Superman, finally tracked down the wizard who had cast the spell. The wizard, tired of being disbelieved, agreed to return Superman even if it meant he would go to prison. |

After Superman is returned to the world, Lois goes home to pack. When Superman asks if she's walking out on him, Lois explains that the man she married didn't know he had a secret identity and a duty to the world. She knows that if not for the wizard, he never would have married her. |

Traditionally, had things gone this far in a regular story in the comics, this would have been the "out" provided. Superman would agree that his duty was to the world and that he couldn't have the luxury of a private life and the right to love Lois. However, the readers were probably as astonished as Lois when Superman not only didn't back out, but wanted to marry her again, but as Superman this time. |

Flying Lois to the Fortress of Solitude, Superman
exchanged vows in Kryptonian tradition with Lois and they were married
again. This time with Superman having full knowledge of who he was.
It was a surprising step even if only in the Earth-two continuity. It was also a far cry form the child-targeted view of love and marriage that was typical of earlier eras. Most of all, it was unique that the marriage was permitted to not only be real, but permanent. From that point forward, Lois Lane would be Lois Kent in the alternate universe. |
