"What the hell are you?"

As previously stated, a cynic has absolutely no defense against real magic. Let's face it, a man who can swallow a bomb and live to burp about it -- is magic. Lois' "awe" quickly turned to "ooh" when the man in tights flew her back to the Daily Planet.

Soon Lois was overtaken by the same type of obsession that had been driving Clark crazy. Unfortunately for Clark, it was his alter-ego that captivated Lois. A love triangle built for two was born.

However, Lois' obsession with Superman went too far when she started stealing stories and sources in Neverending Battle. Clark felt a little comeuppance was in order and so sent her on a wild goose chase through the Metropolis sewage plant. Lois congratulated Clark on taking her down a peg, but when Clark asked, "What have we got going tomorrow?" Lois informed him, "There is you, there is I, but there is no we."

Clark replied, "Not yet."  Lois countered, "Not ever." When Clark's optimism remained undaunted,  "We'll see," Lois hoped that Clark could hold his breath a long time. No problem.

Educating Clark

Lois, without knowing it, had a profound amount of influence over Clark. Making her happy made him happy right from the beginning.

When Lois found out that Clark had stolen evidence in Smart Kids, she grabbed the front of his suit and enthusiastically confessed, "I love that!"

It's not surprising, therefore, that in future episodes, Clark repeated his "criminal" behavior.

Educating Superman

When Jimmy mentioned that Superman could win at cards using his x-ray vision in Requiem for a Super Hero, something Clark was tempted to do during the poker game with Perry, Lois insisted that Superman wouldn't cheat. So, Clark didn't cheat.

This was one of many instances where Lois unwittingly helped create Superman. It was also interesting that she held Clark and Superman to different standards. Clark could steal and she loved it, but Superman would not cheat. After a time even Clark himself would hold Superman to a higher standard.
